The problem/opportunity being addressed:
New legislation has recently been introduced which now requires independent Bookkeepers to have a formal qualifcation. After discussions with Business Industry Skill Boards, accounting bodies and practitioners our primary focus is to esablish an internet site for the delivery of the Certificate IV Finanical Services - Bookkeeping, that will provide our learners with:
* Course information
* Links to legislation and accounting bodies
* Frequently asked questions section
* RPL tool
* Course units
The learners/clients and how they will benefit:
Our project will be focussing on learners who currently working as independent bookkeepers who need to acquire the qualification and former/current accounting students who would like to gain the qualifcation and require the qualifcation. The project will also set a platform where new students wishing to gain the qualification will be able to achieve this via our on-line site. Our on-line delivery approach to this qualification will ensure that learners are not disadvantaged by geography, industry or population density. It is important to note that the learners who will require this qualification are located throughout metropolitan and rural South Australia, with some learners being isolated from a learning support site. |
How the training is currently delivered:
This qualification is currently due to be delivered from August 2009 as workshop (face-to-face) delivery. |
How the innovation will change current delivery:
The development of an on-line tool will enable learners in any geographical location access to course information, RPL tools and learning resources at a time and location which suits them. The project has a strong focus on understanding the client's needs when developing a personalised study program using e-learning resources and it is the intent to empower learners to plan their own study path/development (with guidance as required). |
