The problem/opportunity being addressed:

Tabor Adelaide, in partnership with the South Australian Baptist Union (SABU) will be developing online delivery for CHCYTH1C Work Effectively with Young People and CHCOHS301A Participate in Workplace Safety Procedures. We would like the courses to be engaging and contemporary, thereby motivating and capturing the imagination of the trainee youth workers and leaders of the future SABU provide training to. As we will be catering for a cohort of students generally comfortable and familiar with gaming and the online environment, Second Life is thought to be an ideal tool to effectively engage and immerse the students.
The learners/clients and how they will benefit:

The learners targeted for this project are both the South Australian Baptist Union youth workers (approximately 80), the Tabor Adelaide Youth Work and Certificate IV in Youth Development students (approximately 25). Overall, all learners will benefit from the flexibility provided by using elearning as a solution and by utilising contemporary methodology (Second Life), a more realistic and immersed experience online, providing opportunities to actually practice with real people the theoretical strategies taught.
How the training is currently delivered:

We are not.
How the innovation will change current delivery:

The training will become available online to all learners - local and remote, using Moodle and integrating Second Life via Sloodle.
