The problem/opportunity being addressed:

Community South are a group of 11 community centres/neighbourhood houses in the south Adelaide region. Each of these centres need to induct volunteers into their centres. Sometimes, some of the induction process does not happen, or happens haphazardly due to all sorts of reasons, many outside the control of the centre. Our project will provide these centres with an easy, relevant induction process which will also offer the option to be a pathway to accredited learning by mapping the induction to 3 units of competancy from Cert II Active Volunteering.
The learners/clients and how they will benefit:

The learners will be volunteers and community centre staff. The volunteers will benefit by having their induction training online (and therefore another way of learning), with the opportunity to have this learning accredited. It may be the first time these volunteers have had the opportunity to gain a unit of competancy, therefore providing a pathway to TAFE SA. Community Centre staff will benefit because the volunteer induction process will be online and will offer more flexibility to the volunteers to go through this process quickly. The information online will be relevant, updated regularly and relevant to their centre
How the training is currently delivered:

The training is delivered by Centre Coordinator or Volunters Coordinator this process is a manual one using hard copy induction manuals designed by each Centre. However due to time constraints this process is not as effective as it could be.
How the innovation will change current delivery:

By having induction training online, we will be making sure that the information is relevant, current and reliable, therefore providing the centre an easy way to make sure their volunteers are inducted properly. It will help reduce the potential risk to the volunteers and the centre by ensuring that each volunteer has all the information they need to be an effective volunteer.
