Day 3

Day 202-11-99
Moved to a new location – now this is portability!

Getting the Heebiejeebies now! It’s so quiet. Went for a walk. Remembered Robert Bogucki, you know the bloke who got lost when he went walkabout in North Western Australia. Ran back to camp.

Called my sister who’s looking after my menagerie of pets. Said, "Hey I’m calling you from a satellite phone!"

She said, "Finally!" which left me wondering what else to say.

I said, "You sound like you’re in the next room." to which she replied, "Well you’re lucky I’m not!"

She says the rabbits, chooks, guineapigs and horses are driving her crazy.

It got decidedly chilly even in this heat.

Ordered my sister some flowers on the Internet to say thanks. Checked our Intranet to see if the monthly traffic stats had been posted. Wrote some code, ran some test data against it. It worked fine so I moved it into production.

To demonstrate the audio capability of the MiniSat MultiMedia and taunt old man croc here’s a skirl of my bagpipes that’ll put some hair on your sporran.  It doesn’t sound like much so I had better tell you that it is recorded at 44.1 kHz which is CD quality. ie. Good, unlike my playing.

Got hungry. Called pizza delivery from Brisbane they didn’t seem to think it was very funny. Click here to have a listen.

See what else I can do with the MiniSat MultiMedia tomorrow.
