Reconstruct the unit from the database and display it as a plain HTML page.

This has several advantages over the cut-and-paste from PDF option, in that hard carriage returns are removed, and multi-column data is stored in tables. You do miss out on some formatting, but the data is otherwise mostly unchanged, the main difference being that terms and definitions in the range statement's variable/scope list displayed are in alphabetical order here (but not in the original).

Chose 'Save file as...' from the popup and get a moodle course template for the unit.

This link will prompt you to download a Moodle Module template for the unit (Moodle's a free, open source course management system). You will need to save the module onto your hard drive. Once on the drive use moodle's 'Restore' function to add it to your moodle instance.

There's not much content in this skeleton. Each of the the essential outcomes have been made into topics, with their associated performance criteria added as empty web pages. I've also added some quiz and assignment placeholders which you'll need to flesh out (don't forget to change the open and close dates). You'll need to add all the content (or get your students to do it for you :). A couple of forums for discussing various aspects of the subject wouldn't go astray either. When you've finished, you might consider posting your efforts on the moodle exchange

?Assessment Template

generate a spreadsheet for marking this unit in a classroom environment

This link will create a csv file that can be opened with a spreadsheet application. It lists all the performance criteria and includes some calculations for a final grade. Without any indication of weighting for each criteria in the training package, I've had to allocate each an equal mark. You may want to adjust this, but for true competency based training, where a student is either competent or not, you'll only be entering 0s or 5s for each element. All you really need to do is enter each of your student's names across the top row then format the performance criteria cells for readability and you'll be ready to start gathering evidence and recording marks.

?Evidence Guide

This will generate a simple html page with a table for students to enter details of evidence they would like assessed as meeting the unit's performance criteria. You can copy this page into a word processor or print it out from your web browser for each student.

mark up the unit in a wiki format, ready to paste into a wikispaces wiki page.

This link will create wikispaces ready version of the unit. This will allow you to cut and paste the information into wikispaces wiki page (use the code view and paste it in). From there you can flesh it out with links to new pages for each element or performance criteria which you can fill in for yourself or assign to individuals and/or groups that you're training.

?Self Assessment Survey

self assess current skill levels for each of the unit's performance criteria.

This link will display an HTML form which can be printed (or, for the web savvy, the html can be cut and pasted into a web page form). Trainees and students can then fill the survey in prior to training. It allows them to indicate their current skill levels for each of the performance criteria listed in the unit, which should make it easier to identify skill gaps and/or potential mentors within a group.
